dilimize insan hakları olarak çevrilmiş olan ve iki ciltten oluşan thomas paine eseri. ilk kısmı 1791 yılında yayımlanmıştır ve veraset sistemine bir taşlama niteliği taşır. eserin ikinci kısmı ise bir yıl sonra yayımlanmıştır ve ingiltere'de büyük bir galeyana sebep olur. pain, ikinci kısımda yasaların sorgulanabilir olması gerektiğini, toplumun alt tabakası olarak görülen yoksul sınıfın sorunlarını ve haklarını ele almış; mutlak ve sorgulanamaz bir yönetimi reddetmiştir. eser, özünde ihtilal karşıtı açıklamalar yapan edmund burke'a yönelik bir eleştiri ve fransız ihtilalinin haklı sebeplerini aktarmak üzerinedir. çoğu eserinde olduğu gibi paine onlarca satan bu kitaptan tek kuruş bile para almamayı tercih etmiştir.
